| Perth asked to get its Mo’s & Bows on for Movember Fundraiser |
|
Ryan Campbell, ex-Western Warrior’s cricketer and Beyond Blue WA Ambassador will be attending the event and joining male guests in sporting his most magnificent moustache and fabulous facial hair, while matching it with a brilliant bow tie to dazzle the ladies. Ladies are asked to look glamorous while wearing a bow in their hair or on their outfit. Claremont-based event organiser Georgia Averbuj was motivated to organise the inaugural Mo’s & Bows event due to the need for more men’s health support networks. “Over the last five years my family has been heavily touched by cancer and depression. Finding information and support networks for women was quite easy; however there was less to come by when looking at men’s health issues. With Mo’s & Bows I wanted to contribute to a charity that is bringing men’s issues to the forefront,” Ms Averbuj said. “I’m thrilled that Ryan Campbell will be attending the event, we’re also looking forward to getting some much loved football, rugby and soccer stars along too.” While the event is not an official Movember event, Tom Betts, Movember’s Community Engagement Manager, said that the organisation welcomes such fundraising support. “Movember is dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men. Events such as Mo’s & Bows provide great support in spreading the word about these issues while also raising much needed funds to aid men’s health networks and support groups. We wish Georgia every success!” Mr Betts said. Commenting on what’s on offer on the night, Georgia Averbuj confirmed that the food and wine menu should be an added draw for the evening. “A selection of wine, champagne and beer will be served throughout the evening, with mouth-watering canapés to compliment every drop; seared scallops, braised pork belly and of course, Rob Broadfield’s favourite Elba nibble, mini tacos will be on the menu,” Ms Averbuj said. An auction will be a key feature of the evening, with a range of high and low ticket items available. “Fisher Photography in Subiaco has generously donated three $400 gift vouchers to the auction on the night, which will no doubt aid our fundraising efforts on the night. There will be a range of other attractive items available at the event, however there’s always room for more, so additional auction items are welcome,” Ms Averbuj said.
