Grow it. Live it. Love it.

Spring has sprung and the planning has already begun for a bigger than ever Garden Week. From 19-23 April 2012, Perry Lakes Reserve in Floreat will be transformed from tranquil parkland to a bustling hub of activity featuring all things gardening and much more.

The Show is growing in popularity as a “must attend event” for the industry. Next year visitors will be treated to the best WA has to offer with all things to do with gardening and outdoor living. With the trend for gardens and backyards becoming smaller and more compact, a strong focus will be on sustainability, the importance of gardens on health and wellbeing and how to have a beautiful and productive garden in times of tough water restrictions. “We are thrilled that Garden Week is once again the go-to gardening event it used to be”, says Dr Margy Clema of the Nursery and Garden Industry of WA. “Garden Week is back to being a fun and relaxed event and we have a new generation buying plants and wanting to learn and get their hands dirty”.
Pat Strahan from Strahan Consultants says that plans are already underway to grow the popular cooking demonstrations. “With the phenonomen of TV shows like Master Chef and My Restaurant Rules, and with consumers demanding to know where their food is coming from, visitors are keen to learn how to grow vegetables and fruits in their backyard and turn it into a feast of the senses”.

Proudly supported by major sponsor Water Corporation, Garden Week 2012 will showcase inspiring displays, the latest in garden trends, new products, outdoor living and thousands of plants to buy and take home. The event will be a highlight on the West Australian calendar for visitors of all ages. There will be children’s activities and entertainment including the Therapy Focus Scarecrow competition as Garden Week proudly introduces Therapy Focus as the event charity partner. The ever popular Rob Palmer from Better Homes and Gardens will return as Garden Week’s resident celebrity to charm the crowds with his wit, humour and talent as a DIY know-how and all round ‘nice guy’. And of course there will be plenty of unusual plants to buy, specialist growers to talk to, and garden displays to gain inspiration from.
